Northwest Independent Baseball League is dedicated to developing professional independent league baseball in Portland, Gresham,   Vancouver, and Salem. Since its first year the NWIBL has developed into a 16 team 18 and older independent league.  The NWIBL will continue to establish and grow semi-pro teams with a vision for two 10-team divisions in the Pacific Northwest during the next 2-3 years. The Northwest Independent Baseball League teams are dedicated to providing a competitive sprit and wholesome playing conditions that allow local players and fans a place to play and watch well played baseball. To this end, the League Coaches and Players conduct clinics and seminars for youth players that will help build on the baseball foundations that give them the athletic and sportsmanship skills that will help carry them to the next level of competition.

Whether it’s helping to improve the facilities in the area, or the building on the skills of local players, the NWIBL is intent on proving that baseball is more than just a spectator sport. Fans of all types are welcome and encouraged to come try out, play for or cheer on teams in the Northwest Independent Baseball League. See the Schedule 2011 coming soon.  We are your Portland Baseball League and we need your support and cheers.

Wood Baseball Bats...Real Baseball for those who want to play the baseball way!
Wood bats were the only choice for any batter in the game of baseball until the mid 1970's. But today, wood bats are used far less often than aluminum bats on both the baseball and softball diamonds. Pros are required to use wood bats, and for safety reasons, some high school leagues have recently moved to wood only and in 2012 both High Schools and colleges will have to start using BBCOR .50 Bats only.. Most wooden bats are made of northern white ash, but in recent years maple and Birch has become a popular option. This trend started with the success of MLB players since the 2001 season.
