The Portland River Hawks
The Portland River Hawks played games on both Saturday and
Sunday this week winning both. Played the new Flyers team.
They looked good with pitching and good defense, game was
tight for the first 5 innings with the Hawks scoring first.
The game ended after 8 innings 7-2. Defense is looking good
with everyone starting to dive for what will be the photo
play of the day when the season starts. Stephen starting his
first game at third was a ball magnet the first few innings.
Hitting is getting there with a few doubles and timely
triples. Hawks pitching is getting better with Daniel getting
his first start of the year after 3 innings turned it over to
Gary, Aaron, then John Young came in and closed...thanks
Hawks
On Sunday the Hawks squared off against the White Sox in what
turned out to be a very close game until PJ went yard for the
3rd time in 4 games. Base running is good with Aaron getting
credit for Stephen scoring from 3rd on a run down fake steal.
Pitching again played important part in winning...John
started and went 2, Eric went 1, PJ came in for 1, Aaron 1,
Mr. Harper 1 and Gary. Special thanks to our catcher Tim who
went the distance and had to play umpire.
Great Portland
baseball is back and the River Hawks are working hard at
getting their game ready for the start of the season in the
Northwest Independent Baseball League on May 16th.
