Hawks are
looking for few more competitive pitchers and

League games...
Portland
River Hawks start season with back to
back wins. First game against the
Rose City Reds after loading the bases
in the first few inning go on to win 9-4.
Second game with Steve D. on the mound shut down the
Bulldogs 9-0. Came back on 5/12 played the
Titans for our 3rd win. With All the rain we had to
wait until June 13 for our forth win 6-1 against the
Pirates again Steven D gets the win. Fathers
Day saw the Hawks lose their first game to the
Dodgers 3-1 with only 9 players on the field. Hawks
came back on June 27th to face the
Thunder on a nice
Sunday evening and pickup their 5th win, PJ
Hiser goes the distance with a 3 hit shut out and
Bill Rowe gets the game winning hit final was 9-0.
Hawks come back to
Portland to play Circles on July 10th taking a tough
loss in 8 innings 3-2. Face the Royals 7/15 and win
4-0
Stephen
deLaubenfels pitches complete game. Play
Indians on 7/17 and win a squeaker 4-3 with Pete Stadmeyer going the distance. Hawks top the
Pirates 3-1 in another close game, PJ Hiser goes the
distance in a well played game by both teams. Hawks
are now 8-2 at the half way point in the season.
Portland River Hawks start the second half with a
loss to the
Portland Royals. Come back to beat the
Indians 4-3 and the Pirates 3-1. Then in a tough loss
to the Thunder 2-3. They go on a 3 game
win streak playing the Royals 6-3, the
Flyers 6-1, and
Twins 4-1. In the game Against the
Angels with Nick Renault home for a brief stop in
between playing for Indy teams Big Bend and NJ Bears
has the River Hawks down 7-0 in the third.
River Hawks not wanting to roll over fight back with
3 runs and with the bases loaded Mike Wood hits a
towering drive down the left field line for a grand
slam that ties the game. PJ Hiser comes in in
the 7th to close the game . With no lights at
Sckavone the games ends in a 7-7 tie. The River Hawks
then play the Angels a second time winning 6-2.
In a surprise game against the 0-19 Portland
Highlanders the River Hawks goi into the 7th
inning down 7-3 they score 5 runs to pick up the win.
The River Hawks end the season with a 15-4 win over
the Indians .. River Hawks
Final Standings
15-4-1 Second place...Home
Runs for the season by PJ Hiser, Elliot Sherrell,
Mike Wood and Kevin Clark.

NWIBL 2010 Championship Play Offs
Finishing second in the league
standings the River Hawks get a bye in round 1, In
the first game against the Portland Bulldogs fielding
8 the River Hawks go on to win 20-0 in 5 innings)
In the second game facing the 3rd place
Circles and their ace Stephen George (also home
from pitching in the Indy leagues this year) The
River Hawks throw Stephen deLaubenfels Team ERA
Leader. PJ Hiser's first at bat puts one
over the left center wall and the River Hawks take a
1-0 lead. The Circles come back with a run and
the game stays tied until the 5th when Kevin Clark
hits a double and scores. In the 6th JJ Moorman
comes in to hold the Circles and gets 1-2-3 inning
for the hold. To finish the game PJ Hiser comes in
and finishes ...
River Hawks 2 Circles 1
River hawks now face the
Portland Pirates a long time Portland Semi-Pro
team managed by Jesse Martin and loaded with ex pro
and college players. ( Nik Lubisich, Jason
Short, Shawn Lindsey, Matt McCord) River Hawks Win
the first game 3-2 behind PJ Hiser and now wait the
outcome of the Pirates, Thunder game.
Final game Sunday 8/29 sees the River
Hawks again facing the Pirates as the Pirates win
against the Thunder 7-4. Jesse Martin throws complete
game wining 11-4 handing the River Hawks their fist
loss. With the win loss combination this forces the
Pirates and River Hawks into a final Playoff Game
(the NWIBL teams played a total of 31 games).
Jesse Martin comes back to face a determined River
Hawks Teams and wins again (Jesse pitched 14 innings
throwing 212 pitches ) and wins the championship for
the Pirates 4-2. River Hawks place second in the
league, second in the Playoffs, not bad for their
second year in the NWIBL.
River Hawks look forward to 2011 and
have a few open spots for players wanting to try out

Non League Games...
Portland River Hawks traveled to Salem to play 2 on
5/16. Played 2 games winning both and stopped
for Pizza and a Beer. Nice way to spend a Sunday
afternoon.
Hawks Go back to Salem and play Memorial Day Weekend
and split 4 games 2-2.
Hawks Play the Oregon City Latino All-Stars in a 9
inning game on June 19th winning 12-4.
Hawks
spend Fourth of July in Seattle playing 6 games
in 4 days making the semi finals (split the 6
games 3-3). |

battle it out for the city championship to be held with

August 29th. Fans are welcome to attend games

Sckavone Field,
TUALATIN HILLS,
and
Walker Stadium
any time they wish (all games are free so see you at the

2010 Fall Baseball Series and
Monday Night Baseball open to anyone over 18 who
wants to experience playing wood bat baseball, games in
Sckavone Stadium, Westmoreland Park. Gates open at 5.30
PM and the game lasts till dusk. Teams looking to add
players for fall season starting second week in
September should register below.
The Second NWIBL All-Star game will be played on
8/29 starting 1PM ...this will be a 9 inning game
followed by a league pot luck BBQ...(Will need a few
BBQ's) Will set up in the park area behind the left
field fence open to all League Players, Umpires, and
families. |

Northwest Independent
Baseball League
With the advent of the Portland Beavers leaving
Portland at the end of the 2010 season everyone
is asking what will happen to baseball in
Portland next season (2011). The Northwest
Independent Baseball League has the answer.
Come see Semi-professional baseball played with
local teams and players form the Portland's and
Vancouver area. Fourteen teams play baseball
from May through August at Walker and Sckavone
Stadiums (see schedule at NWIBL.ORG) in
Southeast Portland. Teams consist of players
with High School, College, and Professional
experience and are looking for local
sponsorship.
Come see teams this year (2010) as they battle
it out for the city championship to be held
with a double elimination series the last 2
weeks in August. Thanks to the City of Portland
Parks division the stadiums are kept in game
ready play all summer and into early fall. Fans
are welcome to attend any time they wish at no
charge just visit nwibl.org for games and times
at each venue. The league also supports Monday
Night Baseball at Sckavone Stadium open to
anyone over 18 who wants to experience playing
in a stadium every Monday. Gates open at 5.30
PM and lasts till dusk.
The 2011 seasons looks for the league to expand
with up to 4 new teams (Portland Yankees,
Westmoreland Red Sox, the Vaughn Street
Beavers, and a team to be named from the Oregon
City area). Players within the two divisions
can continue their passion playing base ball at
the highest level. Players follow modified MLB
rules and use umpires form MOSA a Portland
based umpire association. |

NEW TEAMS FOR 2011
Portland Yankees and
the Westmorland Red Sox are expansion teams for
the Northwest Independent Baseball League a 14
team Semi-Pro 18 and older baseball league
based in Portland OR. Teams will play in the
NWIBL fall 2010 season and be ready to play
league games in the spring of 2011. With the
addition of these teams and one from Oregon
city NWIBL will expand to 18 teams to begin the
2011 season.
These teams are looking for new players with
Varsity High School, College, and Professional
experience. Baseball players that are wanting
to continue their baseball passion and
competitive sprit can sign up at NWIBL.ORG.

The Portland River Hawks are dedicated to helping take
the level of play to new heights. To this end, the
River Hawks coaches and players will conduct
clinics and seminars for youth players that will
help build on the baseball foundations that they’re
developing and give them the athletic and
sportsmanship skills that will help carry them to
the next level of competition.
Whether it’s helping to improve the facilities in
the area, or the building on the skills of local
players, the Portland River Hawks are intent on
proving that baseball is more than just a spectator
